White Stuff
October 23rd, 2004 byDrove up Highway 58 today in search of a few photos. Hideous weather. Rain and then snow as my vw climbed higher and higher up the mountain highway. By 3000 ft it was that wet half rain, half snow. By 4000 ft it was already accumulating on the ground. And by 5000 ft I was worried a bit about getting back down without putting my chains on. I stopped at Salt Creek Falls and shot a few frames of the waterfall. Didn’t really get anything. It was windy and nearly impossible to keep water off the front optics on my lenses. I got this shot of the falls around about the time I decided to head back to the car. It was just too wet to shoot without destroying my gear, but I like this shot. You can see how heavily it was snowing. Looks like grain in the photo, but it’s not. It’s snow.
